Multiple Damage Weapons and Shields

Postby NeillC » Thu Aug 13, 2015 12:57 pm

There's a few weapons now that let you make multiple calls with one 'shot', like the triple shotgun, where the base call is "Single Single Single".

How do those calls interact with Power Shields? If you were shot with one, would it take one use of a Shield to block all three Singles, or would you need a separate call for all three?

Each is a separate call with all that entails.

If you wanted to put Manstopper Rounds in (Knockdown 1/Combat), you could call "Single Knockdown, Single, Single". Because they're separate calls, things have to be added to them separately and ammo consumables are done on a per-reload basis, not a per-bullet basis.

The Sledgefire is also a 150WU gun. It's not cheap tech. Even with This One is Mine, you're only calling "Double, Double, Double". It probably can't have a fire-selector added, which means you can only add 1 special ammo load. So it's good for stripping Vitality, and once it's through Vitality, good at stripping Body. But it's also slow to reload, and getting more than three shells is costly which makes it hard to do continuous fire.

Against someone with Fortitude 2 on Doubles, the Sledgefire's three shells will strip away all their Vitality and Body in three shots. Assuming that person hasn't gone into cover, used Shields, or used Over the Top (which completely negates the advantage of multiple shots). It's also slower to fire two shots than the Stryfe is to fire six for the same density of fire without the benefit of splitting your shots.

There are pros and cons to the weapons.

I did find calling single through, single through, single through, was really tiring to call but it is cruel.
